This class teaches a foundational repair technique for knitwear: the needle weaving darn (also known as a woven darn). Used for generations, this method reinforces worn areas so garments can continue to be worn, washed, and repaired again in the future.

In this live online workshop, Matthew will guide you through the full repair process—from assessing damage to caring for your finished mend. The focus is durability, clarity, and skill-building, not quick fixes or decorative patching.

This class will meet Tuesday, January 27, 2026 online from 7 to 9 PM Eastern Time. If that's too late or not the best time, the class will be recorded for asynchronous learning.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Evaluate knit damage and determine when a woven darn is appropriate
  • Prepare and stabilize your garment before stitching
  • Build a strong, flexible darn that moves with the knit
  • Care for repaired areas so they hold up over time

This class is part of Approved Textiles’ ongoing commitment to repair as a practical skill and an act of stewardship. Mending keeps garments in use longer, reduces waste, and reconnects us to the labor embedded in everyday clothing.
